Ellensbrook House, aka Ellensbrook at Mokidup is a heritage-listed property in Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park in the locality of Yebble, Western Australia near Margaret River.
It is nestled in the lee of one of the most spectacular coastal dunes of the rugged, western-facing coastline of Wadandi Boodja.
The site was chosen by Ellen and Alfred Bussell in 1857, as the location of their new home ‘Ellensbrook House’. The house is constructed of paperbark, driftwood, timber, lime, dung and hair. Rooms were added over time in a ramshackle manner, making it a fascinating snapshot into the shared history of European settlers and the original custodians.
